The expected 4th of May, 2020!
Hello there,
If you haven't lost it during the lockdown I'd like to congratulate you for keeping it together up until this moment. The urge to get out of the house and socialize has been the cry of many and with the ease on the lockdown I'm sure many hearts are leaping with joy at the moment.
Prior to today the fourth of May, many have not exactly been obedient to the lockdown. I know a man that gets all his family in the car and drives around the estate all evening everyday. Some even took to the streets jogging and some just couldn't contain their legs so they strolled everyday. The boredom seemed like it would kill but we didn't die. But what happens when the government announced a lockdown ease?
Lagosians file out in their numbers like the army, flouting every existing law of social distancing all too busy to get about their usual routine. Some say it was a good break but the truth is they actually miss their routine of early mornings and late nights. Sanitizers no more on fleek like it used to be, and very few actually went out with a facemask on.
Jammed roads, blaring honks, the voice of the street hawker mixed with the silent rhythmic noises of people's feet on the roads, This is not the Lagos we know, but it is sure different from the one we had for more than a month. Even people who had no business coming out all trooped out today, some went cruising while some others just paid their long time friend a visit.
Today has sure history.
But what will be the result of today's event? The fear of the statistics increasing and more people getting infected lingers still. It is our hope that NCDC do not break our hearts tonight and people can still move out with much enthusiasm tomorrow like they did today.
Stay home if you have no business outside.
Stay Safe.
